Everyday Tweed and Kaylee progress

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Kaylee’s sweater is moving along at a decent pace. I’ve put it on the back burner for a little bit while I try and get some work done on my Everyday Tweed. Right now, Kaylee’s sweater is just waiting for finishing (lost my tapestry needle and need a new one) and the sleeves and hood. Those won’t take much time at all.

The Everyday Tweed is a wonderfully clean and simple design. I have loved the sweater since I first saw the pattern and am thrilled that I found it again.

Here are some photos of the yarn and the sweater in progress:

Someone save the girl

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I feel miserable today.  In part it may be the weather; but, I’m pretty certain that one of my coworkers who was ill over the weekend has brought in the bug that laid him low and spread the love.   He says his mama always taught him to share.  I told him, “Well, yeah…there are some things you should keep to yourself, though!”  He just laughed.

I was so tempted to call in to work today and take a PTO day.  But, I’d rather save them up.  I’ve never had a vacation in my life and I’d really like to be able to go on one soon.  I’m not counting the holiday visits to family, or business conferences or anything like that where you are going some place because you have to do something there.  I mean a vacation where you get away just to get away…to take time to rejuvenate the soul.

Now that my passport has arrived, I’m giving serious thought to a week in Mexico or Ireland.  Mexico is easier because of where I’m located.  Problem is I don’t speak Spanish.  Yeah, yeah – hush.  I should learn, and I actually have someone I can practice with, now…so, maybe I will.  I’ll talk to them about it.

Delightful weekend

Monday, August 11th, 2008

I got next to nothing accomplished and loved every moment of it.

Ok, well, I got my laundry done…I suppose that counts.  I’ve also managed to finish the front of Kaylee’s sweater and a few rows on my hemp sweater.  But, for the most part, it was a very quiet, completely comfortable and cozy weekend.  I loved it.  Quiet time reading and dozing just can’t be beat.

I did still go out dancing Friday and Saturday nights…though Saturday night I got rather grumpy – between a blister on the back of my heel and a DJ that needs to have a few CDs placed in….ok I’ll stop…but, um…yeah.  I seriously do not like the current DJ.  The other one is out due to surgery and I want him back so bad it’s unreal.

It makes it sound like I didn’t enjoy myself, but I did for the most part.  I just had my tolerance level reached and decided to go home early on Saturday night.  Sunday I wound up battling one of my headaches that I haven’t experienced in quite some time. Then it dawned on me.  I ran out of Zyrtec on Friday.  So, I need to remedy that.

Anyway, with it being such a quiet weekend, I really don’t have a whole lot to post about…so this will be short and sweet.  I am feeling upbeat and happy today – though I never would have thought that I’d be happy and upbeat after getting up at 5am.  It wasn’t so bad, though.  I got some nice, quiet time in the morning, got in to work early and got quite a bit done.  It’s been pleasant.
