Ark update

Friday, April 14th, 2006

Well, it’s been a bit busier during the wee hours than I expected. However, I did manage to turn the heel of my sock (short rown down to 8 stitches – perfect fit) and I finished the first pattern of the Ark Vest (revisited).

I cast on with a provisional cast on, since I will be doing a bit of knitting in the opposite direction to use as facing on the bottom of this vest…that’s the yellow you see.

Here’s the pattern so far:

Here the Ark is, hard at work:

It’s kinda hard to see the knitting because of the monitors hogging all the light, and such. It’s felt odd having my knitting here; but, at the same time, I can honestly say it didn’t interfere with my work at all. That’s a complete bonus. I am reminded about why I like the night shift and am even more considering asking to be moved to that shift. Aside from the 15% pay diff, I just like third shift.

Doctor this afternoon…that I don’t like so much. But, it’s a necessary evil, isn’t it?

Seder was wonderful and I am very happy that I went, even though it meant I go soooo little sleep.

Update

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

For those of you who have asked, yes I am doing fine. I was doing great through the day, yesterday, except for being tired from the whack sleep schedule.

Jackie, I couldn’t get an appointment that soon with my doctor. However, I’m scheduled for a Friday afternoon appointment. Thank you so much for your concern.

I will be sure to update on what the doctor says.

As for projects…I’m working two days of 3am-3pm starting tomorrow. So, I figure that’s a good 3 hours of knitting here at work before the day crew comes in and makes me behave myself. **grins** So, I should get quite a bit finished on the pastel socks. I really wanted to bring in the WRS, but…well…the thought of taking that anywhere has me terrified of the possible horrific things that could happen to it. So…yah. I’ll stick with the simple stuff for shoving in my bag and hauling around town. **chuckles**

Adventures in late night knitting

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

I really should be sawing logs, right now. Instead, I’m wide awake due to something that has happened two other times in my life…both times in the last two years. It’s terrifying when it happens.

All three times, I had just eaten after not eating all day long. Tonight was a very protein rich meal, so it should have been a good thing. I got sweaty and feeling like I’m burning up on the inside. I looked like I’d been baking in the sun for a few minutes too long. I couldn’t get the inside of me to cool down, even when laying on tile as cold as possible. I couldn’t see straight, heart going crazy, stomach getting all queasy, vertigo kicking in hard. I felt drunk in a lot of ways, unable to speak clearly, thoughts going around in circles. My mind gibbering at me in terror as my body just goes completely haywire. I dropped the temperature in the house to around 60°F and went to bed. I woke up around 10pm and I have no doubt I’ll be up all night.

So, knitting time. Unfortunately, I don’t have very bright lights in my living room, so I’m only working on the simple projects. Aside from the lights, I’m still a little rattled from earlier. Thanks to all that’s holy for knitting. It soothes the soul.
